Brief Description & Outcomes: 

  • Workshop cum Hands-on Training: Waste Composting Under Mission Life wasorganized by the Eco Club and the Department of History, Government J. Thankima College, on the 15th of February, 2024, at Central Campus.

 

  • The event was aimed at promoting sustainable practices and environmental stewardship through waste composting. It garnered enthusiastic participation, with 100 students from the Eco Club, students of IV Semester FC/Environmental Studies, and the students of II Semester Skills Enhancement Course (Composting) actively engaging in the program.

 

 

  • A highlight of the event was the workshop conducted by Mr. Lalvensanga, M. Sc Agri. (Soil Science) from Central Agricultural University (CAU), Selesih. Mr. Lalvensanga shared his expertise on composting techniques, emphasizing the process of making compost from organic waste and dry leaves. Participants gained insights into the different types of nutrients present in compost and their role in enhancing plant growth and development. Practical demonstrations enabled students to learn firsthand how to prepare various types of compost, particularly using kitchen waste, promoting sustainability through effective waste management.

 

  • Furthermore, the workshop emphasized the practical application of compost within the campus environment. Participants were encouraged to utilize the compost produced to nourish the flora of our campus, promoting greener and healthier surroundings.

 

 It is commend the Eco Club, the Department of History, Mr. Lalvensanga, and all participants for their proactive engagement in learning and promoting waste composting techniques. Let us continue to implement these sustainable practices in our daily lives, contributing towards a cleaner and more environmentally responsible future.
