Objectives:
- Understanding Research Approaches: Provide participants with an overview of various research methodologies and approaches utilized in the Humanities and Social Sciences disciplines.
- Enhancing Research Skills: Equip attendees, including faculty, research scholars, and students, with the necessary skills and knowledge to undertake research effectively in their respective fields.
- Exploring Vulnerability Studies: Delve into the concept of vulnerability and its manifestations in literary texts, enabling participants to analyze and interpret diverse forms of vulnerability in literature.
- Addressing Research Challenges: Discuss common issues and problems encountered during research endeavors and provide strategies for resolution.
- Interdisciplinary Learning: Foster interdisciplinary dialogue and collaboration among participants from different academic backgrounds, promoting a holistic understanding of research methodologies and their applications.
The Programme: The collaborative effort of the Research and Development Committee, Department of English, and Finance and Management Committee of Govt. J. Thankima College orchestrated a comprehensive workshop aimed at deepening participants’ understanding of research methodologies within the Humanities and Social Sciences fields. The program’s hybrid format facilitated engagement from a diverse audience, including faculty, research scholars, and students from various regions, both within and outside Mizoram.
Prof. Pramod Nayar’s lectures, tailored for undergraduate and postgraduate students, delved into key topics such as ‘Doing Environmental Humanities’ and ‘The New Historicism: Methods and Methodology,’ offering valuable insights into research approaches. The exploration of diverse forms of vulnerability in literary texts was a central theme of the program, contributing to a nuanced understanding of social issues within a literary context.
Sessions led by eminent speakers like Prof. Jangkhongam Doungel from Mizoram University and Dr. Lalhmangaihi Chhakchhuak from Central University of Punjab delved into various aspects of research in social sciences, data analysis methods, and the significance of sociological imaginations in research endeavors. Dr. KC Lalmalsawmzauva from Mizoram University provided expertise on data analysis in research, while Dr. Lalrinngheta chaired discussions on vulnerability studies.
The workshop featured both theoretical lectures and interactive sessions, allowing participants to engage with the material through Q&A sessions and discussions. Practical workshops, such as the one on vulnerability studies, provided opportunities for hands-on learning and collaborative problem-solving.
The program’s structure, with a diverse range of topics and speakers, ensured a holistic exploration of research methodologies and their applications in the Humanities and Social Sciences. It fostered an environment conducive to critical thinking, collaboration, and knowledge exchange among participants.
