Resource Person: Benry Lalfakzuala
Zawlpala Thlan Tlang (Phulpui): Benry Lalfakzuala talks about a love story between Zawlpala and Tualvungi. Zawlpala Thlan Tlang (Importance of Tomb of Zawlpala at Phulpui) is located on the top of a peak at Phulpui Village, about 35 kms to the South of Aizawl; the grave stone of Tualvungi and Zawlpala, is a testimony to a tragic love story that has inspired many ballads. Tualvungi and Zawlpala love each other and and got married. However, things did not work out as they expected. It happened that one day Phuntiha, a rich and powerful chief of a distant village passed through their village, and noticing Tualvungi and he fell in love and wanted to marry. But Zawlpala did not take it seriously as Phuntiha can afford the bride price of Tualvungi as Zawlpala ask for the bride price. However, it turned out that Phuntiha could really fulfilled the bride price and ultimately Zawlpala ended up losing his beloved wife to a tyrannical chief of a distant village.
The story seems whimsical, but it has apparently been woven around actual persons as some factual evidences support their existences in this area sometimes in the past.
