For the observance of ‘International Youth Day – 2021’, on 12th August, Red Ribbon Club of GJTC has organized a Webinar. The Resource person was Mrs. Zairemtluangi, Nodal Officer – RRCof GJTC. The Resource Person talked about The International Youth Day is celebrated annually on 12th August, to bring youth issues to the attention of the international community and to celebrate the potential of youth as active partners in the global society.
In this Webinar, the theme was selected as- Youth and HIV/AIDS. The Resource Person delivered youth are times of discovery, exploration and experimentation of new behaviour and relationship. It is a period of great stress and strain. They are confronted in with technological advancement, adjustment problems, love, sex, drugs etc. In the absence of right guidance and correct information they are more likely to have multiple partner unprotected sex, drugs, drinking and so on. They are in the shadow of HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases. Sex and drugs are the modes of transmission of HIV/AIDS, Young people are vulnerable because of biological and social factors and lack of knowledge and skills of how to protect themselves from HIV/AIDS. The Resource Person highlighted the present scenario of HIV/AIDS in Mizoram and also talked about the preventive measures for HIV/AIDS among young people.
The youth are the hope of our future. Youth play an important role in our society to renew and refresh the current status of our society. Youth is the backbone of any nation. They can become a change maker.
