On the above mentioned date and time Department of Political Science has conducted webinar for core students. The occasion was organized in commemoration of the 75th anniversary of India Independence Day and adopted “India and Self-Reliance: The Road Ahead” as a theme. On the basis of the theme two faculties i.e. Mr. Lalbuatsaiha and Mr. Lalrinngheta have also presented papers. Some of the important points of the paper presents are as under:

  1. ‘India and Self-Reliance in Pre-Independence’ by Mr. Lalrinngheta
  • Before the British conquest, India is one of the richest countries in the world during the 16th and 17th Century and earlier.
  • The European and the British traders initially came to India for trading purposes and led to various drastic changes in the socio-economic pictures of India.
  • Commercialization of agriculture led to the disappearance of village self-sufficiency and decrease in the production of food crops.
  • De-industrialization especially in textile, un-employments and frequent famines were the results of British occupation.
  1. ‘India and Self-Reliance in Post-Independence’ by Mr. Lalbuatsaiha
  • Focusing the impact of British Colonial legacy in the administrative system of India after her independence.
  • Highlighting the process of adopting the Constitution of India.
  • Focusing the role of first leaders of India with regard to establishment of Planning Commission of India and introduction of First and second five year Plan of India and its impacts.
  • Economic Reform Of India in the post 1990 and its impact on Indian economics.
  • Various developments of India in the field of agriculture, education, science and technology, health care, defence and security.
  • Some social issues in India in the field of human rights implementation.

 

The webinar ended at 12:45pm  after an endnote address has been delivered by Mrs. Lalringzuali Assistant Professor.
