Objectives: 1. The day is dedicated every year to honour the legacy of MaulanaAbulKalam Azad. A brilliant mind, Kalam was the first Union Education Minister of the country after Independence. National Education Day is observed in the country to commemorate Kalam’s birth anniversary. 2. National Education Day is observed to raise the quality of education given to students in the country. The day also remembers the contributions of Azad in laying the foundations of the education system in an independent India.

Body: 1. Ms Zairemtluangi talked about November 11 to honour the legacy of Maulana Abul Kalam. The first Education Minister of India, Maulana Abul Kalam laid the foundation of several institutions including the first Indian Institute of Technology. 2. Ms Zodinsangi reported that Maulana Abul Kalam Azad was elected as a member of foundation committee to establish Jamia Milia Islamia at Aligarh. He assisted in shifting the campus of the university from Aligarh to New Delhi in 1934. As India’s first Minister of Education, he insisted on the importance of educating the rural poor and girls.

Outcome: All educational institutions in the country mark the day with seminars, symposia, essay writing competition, workshops and rallies with banner cards and slogans.
