The Eco Club at Govt. J. Thankima College has taken on a significant role as the Enforcement Squad for eliminating single-use plastics within the central campus. In collaboration with the Health & Hygiene Committee, the Eco Club has initiated a series of actions aimed at promoting cleanliness and reducing the usage of single-use plastics.
One of the key initiatives is the organization of a weekly Cleanliness Drive conducted every Friday. During these drives, members of the Eco Club, along with volunteers from the Health & Hygiene Committee, actively engage in cleaning up the campus environment. This effort not only enhances the overall cleanliness of the campus but also raises awareness about the importance of maintaining a plastic-free environment.
In addition to the Cleanliness Drive, the Eco Club conducts regular checks inside classrooms to monitor and discourage the use of single-use plastics. This involves inspecting classrooms to ensure compliance with the campus policy on plastic usage and providing guidance to students and faculty on alternative, eco-friendly options.
By assuming the role of the Enforcement Squad, the Eco Club is playing a crucial part in implementing and enforcing policies aimed at reducing plastic waste within the college premises. This proactive approach not only supports environmental sustainability but also fosters a culture of responsibility and stewardship among students and staff towards creating a cleaner and greener campus environment.
