The Eco Club of Govt. J. Thankima College organised a Cleanliness Drive for a ‘plastic free campus‘ today afternoon. The members of the Club also took up the work of clearing and cleaning the Eco Garden at the Central Campus.
At the cleanliness drive, the members cleared the Campus from synthetic and semi-syhthetic plastic materials such as plastic bottles, eatable wrappers and the like, along with any rubber made objects found. Apart from maintaining the cleanliness of the Campus, the Green Leaders have taken a number of initiatives to facilitate an eco friendly and plastic free campus. They have also requested all the students to maintain the cleanliness of the Campus and classrooms by throwing waste and rubbish only in the dust bins, to refrain from the use and possession of plastic materials not only at the Campus but also at home and at public places.
The Eco Club of the College is formally registered under ENVIS HUB, Govt. of Mizoram. And, the Cleanliness Drive was organised today following the Eco Club Activities Calendar prepared by the Environmental Information System HUB (ENVIS HUB).
