The Programme was organized by Internal Complaints Committee and Department of English in observance of Sexual Assault and Awareness Month (SAAM) on 5th April, 2022, First Tuesday of the Month with the Theme for 2022 “Lets Built Safe Online Spaces Together”.

Target Group and No. of Participants:  The target group for the Programme was Core students. 28 Core students participated in the event.

 

Resource Person & Speech: Ms. Maria Lalremruati, Associate Professor & Head of English Department & Chairman, ICC was the Resource Person. Speech was also deliverd by R. Laltleipuii, Core student, Department of Mizo and Lalremruata, Core Student, Department of English.

 

Theme and Objective of the Programme: The Theme of SAAM Day for 2022 is “Lets Built Safe Online Spaces Together”. This special Day of Action aims to raise awareness about sexual assault and educate students on useful ways to prevent its occurrence. The annual theme of SAAM Day of Action is chosen and targeted toward education and awareness on sexual violence. Reflecting on the world’s growing dependence on technology, the programme focus on sexual assault prevention in online spaces, and interpret the purpose of Sexual Assault Awareness Month which is to raise awareness about what Sexual Assault is and to educate the students and community on how to prevent the occurrence of sexual violence.

 

Outcome:

Students are now more open to the topic of Sexual Assault and are more transparent in their approach.
