Dr. Zirlianngura, the State Nodal Officer (SNO) of National Service Scheme (NSS) visited the NSS Units of the Institution on Friday, January 20, 2023. At the Visit Programme, chaired by Mr. Lalthlamuana, Associate Professor and Vice Principal, the SNO, Dr. Zira said that there is a paradigm shift in the functioning of NSS, since, the activities of the NSS which were conducted on voluntary basis have been undertaken on regular basis as mandated by the Sports & Youth Ministry of India. And, in this digital age with the fast developing information technology, Institutions of higher education are sometime expected to compile and submit activities report within the day itself. And, in this regard, Dr. Zira thanked and praised the Institution for being one of the first few HEI”s that have been submitting requisite data and conducting activities as and when informed and on request(s). The SNO also informed that the NSS Units of the Institution is one of the six (6) Institution in Mizoram selected to represent the state in the National Youth Parliament Competition, 2023.
The Principal Prof.. JV. Nunchunga welcomed the SNO Dr. Zira and his staff and lauded the various activities of the NSS of Mizoram. Briefly highlighting the activities of the NSS Units, the Principal said that the good activities of the NSS Units have played an important role in the process of NAAC’S Assessment and Accreditation for the Institution. Praising the NSS, he further said that credit for maintaining a clean and green campus should be given to the NSS Units of the Institution.
At the occasion, the Programme Officer (PO) of NSS, Mr. Sangvuana, Associate Professor, presented a brief report that there are currently four (4) units of NSS and apart from the Regular Activity performed monthly, a blood donation camps and awareness programmes are organised at regular intervals, and cleanliness drive in the locality have been conducted every month. He was also immensely delighted to inform that the SNO have graded the work of the NSS of Govt. J. Thankima College as ‘Excellent’ for a consecutive 5 years.
The Visit Programme was closed with a vote of thanks by Mrs. C. Vanlalruati, Associate Professor and Programme Officer of NSS. The SNO, Dr. Zirlianngura was accompanied by the staff of State Nodal Office.
