Red Ribbon Club Organised Membership Drive cum HIV/AIDS Awareness Campaign

A Membership Drive cum HIV/AIDS Awareness Campaigned was jointly organised by the Red Ribbon Club, Internal Quality Assurance Cell and Mizoram State AIDS Control Society (MSACS) at the Central Campus today, ie., July 31, 2018.

The officials from MSACS, Lalneihzeli Sailo, Assistant Director, Youth Affairs and M.S. Dawngliana, Assistant Director were accompanied by Wendy, a HIV/AIDS patient.

Speaking at the occasion on the essence of the Red Ribbon Club and life skills, Lalneihzeli Sailo said, “Saying ‘No’ to temptations to do bad things is a powerful weapon to stay safe. And, to live a good life, one must choose a good principle in life.”

Sharing her testimony and giving advise to the students, Wendy said, like herself, no one indulges in drugs and alchohol to become HIV/AIDS +, but she has become a victim of the disease because of her addiction to intoxicants. However, she has found refuge and salvation in God and she has left her worldly lives behind. Under MSACS, she takes treatment in Anti-Retroviral Therapy making her fit to actively participate in HIV/AIDS awareness campaign.

In the Membership Drive and HIV/AIDS Awareness Campaign chaired by Lalmuanpuia, Nodal Officer of the RRC, Zairemtluangi, Nodal Officer delivered report on the Red Ribbon Club of the College. The 1st Semester students attended the programme.

RRC is a comprehensive promotional and preventive intervention to enhance voluntary blood donation as well as the mainstream of HIV /AIDS prevention, care and support, as well as treatment, impact, mitigation and stigma reduction, among the youth in educational institutions.
