Report of event: A ‘One Day Workshop on Research Methodology’ organized by the Research and Consultancy Committee (RCC) of Govt. J. Thankima College was held on the 17th July, 2020 at the College Conference Hall, Central Campus. The Mentor of the Institution Prof. Lalhmasai Chuaungo, Director HRDC, Mizoram University was Resource Person of the workshop. The business session was chaired by Prof. C. Lalremruata, the Coordinator of IQAC; and certificates of appreciation and participation were handed with a vote of thanks by Dr. Lalrinkimi Pachuau, Assistant Professor, at the valedictory Session No of Participant : 29 Resource Person : Prof. Lalhmasai Chuaungo Director HRDC, Mizoram University Theme: Research Methodology
Objectives:
1. Identify and discuss the role and importance of research in the social sciences.
2. Identify and discuss the issues and concepts salient to the research process.
3. Identify and discuss the complex issues inherent in selecting a research problem, selecting an appropriate research design, and implementing a research project.
4. Identify and discuss the concepts and procedures of sampling, data collection, analysis and reporting.
Body: After the Principal, Prof. JV.Nunchunga delivered the welcome address, the Resource Person, Prof. Lalhmasai Chuaungo highlighted the crucial necessity of research works and publication of works by teachers of higher education for National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) initiatives, NAAC Accreditation and the overall development of higher education in Mizoram. While delivering lecture on the topic ‘Preparation of Research,’ Prof. Lalhmasai Chuaungo encourage the participants to take up research areas which have not been explored and elaborated on the need to engage in authentic research works, and to give due consideration to plagiarism guidelines issued by University Grants Commission.
Outcome: 1. Most helpful and informative session on Research Methodology . The presenter was fantastic, clear, easy to follow, and provided tips that are immediately applicable 2. It was refreshing to hear from a Resource Person in the field of research who can help others maximize the potential to obtain a competitive grant.
