National Webinar on Cross Cultural Translation : GJTC 11th Oct, 2020

Report of event: The Department of English, Govt. J. Thankima College organized a National Webinar on “Cross-Cultural Translation” on 3rd Oct, 2020. Prof. GJV Prasad of Jawaharlal Nehru University and Prof Margaret Pachuau Department of English , Mizoram University were the Resource Person. spoke on “The World in/of Translation” where the spoke of the translation of thoughts and the changes involved in translation. He mentioned intra-lingual translation and translations across languages. He gave emphasis on literary translations and cultural translations. Prof. Margaret L. Pachuau, Dept. of English, Mizoram University spoke on “Translation: The Mizo Narrative” where she gave a detailed explanation of the practical aspects of translation regarding the Pan-Indianness of translation. She also clarified the importance of the role of the author and the translator while taking on the task of translating. Both sessions were followed by vibrant discussions. 389 participants registered for the webinar and almost 200 participants took part in the Webinar. No of Participant : 15 Resource Person: 1. Individuals who demonstrate effective communication skills across cultures are much more likely to motivate others and be able to lead with influence.
