Objectives: The Tree Planting Activity aims to raise awareness to the society in the importance of planting and saving trees, express our concern to the environment, and diminish the unfavorable effects of climate change.

The Practice: Jointly organised by IQAC, Eco Club of Govt. J. Thankima College and Environmental Information System Hub (ENVIS HUB), Govt. of Mizoram, a tree plantation programme was organised at the Central Campus of Govt. J. Thankima College today. The programme was sponsored by RUSA.A total of 30 tree saplings along with other plants to enhance green environment was planted at the Central Campus. And 25 members from the College and 3 members from ENVIS HUB participated in the programme; 15 students and 7 teachers to be specific. Under the initiative of the IQAC, 4 varieties of tree saplings amounting to 155 in number were procured from the Department of Forest, GoM. The plantation work will continue after the schedule of plantation work plan is approved by the Principal.

Outcome: Students are given the chance to have first-hand experience to contribute to the (sustainable) development on Earth. Such little steps taken together by the college and students will surely help in fostering strong mental and social health amongst today’s youth so that they connect with their peers, their elders, their community and their environment.
