GJTC – 13th October, 2017- Workshop on Sensitization for Improving Performance of Students with Special Needs & Marginalized Sections

The Workshop was organized by Equal Opportunity Cell, organized on 13th October, 2017. The programme was chaired by Ms. Rebecca Khiangte, member of EOC, and Resource Person for the Workshop was Mr. JD. Vanlalrema, Former student of Govt. J Thankima College (Dept. of History). 50 students participated in the Workshop particularly from Core Classes.

Aims/Objective of the Workshop and Important Points highlighted by the Resource Person\To identify students with special needs, putting the idea of a barrier-free environment into perspective and to make use of the Mentoring and assistance which can be provided by the teachers.
Letting students know about different instructional designs, assistive technologies, information on special provisions available to marginalized sections, and assistance to help them achieve more fruitful learning.
1. To generate awareness on Job Reservation for Person with disabilities, and Weaker/Minor Sections of Society (PWD, SC/ST/OBC).
2. To motivate and help students realize their full potential in achieving their goals, how to better their performance, and to support them with equal opportunities and support them with resources required (reading materials, ideas, guidance, technical knowhow etc.), as per their condition and foster them in a manner appropriate to their needs.
Program Outcome:
1. The programme was interactive and participants were active in discussions and are motivated to make use of the mentoring which could be provided by the teachers.
2. Participants of the Workshop gained new ideas, knowledge and information pertaining
to special provisions available to marginalized section which could be helpful in achieving a more fruitful outcome in their studies.
3. Students are motivated and from the discussions, they appear to be more positive in achieving their goals and to perform better with support that is available to them.
