GJTC 11th July, 2021 : Faculty Development Programme – Two days’ workshop on ICT for Online Classes

Report of event: For Faculty Development Programme, Two-Days Workshop on ICT for Online Classes has been organized by the Information and Communication Technology Management Committee (ICTMC) in collaboration with Governance Leadership and Organization Management Committee (GLOMC), GJTC on 8th and 9th July 2021 at the GJTC Entrepreneurship Knowledge Centre, Central Campus.

1st day of workshop: 8th July’2021: The first day of workshop commenced on 10:30 am , which was attended by the departments earlier scheduled to take part which were English, Mizo, History and Political Science The training program was inaugurated by Prof J.V. Nunchunga, Principal, GJTC stressing on the prevailing demands of Education , Viability of certain online platforms and the importance of being an ICT facilitated institution. The daily schedule of the training program was divided into two sessions; where Lectures were given on YouTube uploads, Google drive uploads, google forms and zoom.

2nd Day: 9th July,2021 commenced on 10:30 am; the departments present being BBA, Economics, Education and Geography. Topics covered were the same as the previous day. In the two- days training program, altogether four technical sessions about different ICT tools and technologies were delivered between 10 AM and 3:30 PM. Dr Lalrinkimi Pachuau and Lalrinawma led the technical sessions. There were 45 teachers present in the training program. The program was again a pathway for integrating ICT in education.

Objectives: 1. Effectively use ICT tools, software applications and digital resources. 2. Integrate ICT into teaching-learning and its evaluation. 3. Acquire, organize and create her own digital resources. 4. Participate in the activities of teachers’ networks. 5. Participate in the evaluation and selection of ICT resources

Outcome: 1. ICT helps teachers to work in teams and share ideas related to education curriculum. There are also evidence that broadband and interactive whiteboards play a central role in fostering teachers’ communication and increasing collaboration between educators. 2. ICTs can be important tools to help meet such increased needs, by helping to provide access to more and better educational content, aid in routine administrative tasks, provide models and simulations of effective teaching practices, and enable learner support networks, both in face to face and distance.
