• Resource Person: Ms. Maria Lalremruati Chairman of Women Committee and Associate Professor of Govt. J Thankima College. She presented paper at International level at Thailang,
• Report of event: Ms. C.Vanlalruati Secretary of Women Committee was the Seminar coordinator. Chairperson Ms. Lalthanchami Khiangte, Moderator Ms. Sangrozami and Ms Ramnungaii Member of the Seminar organising Committee was the refreshment in charge.
• Body: In this seminar, the resource person talked about the sexual harassment women faced at their workplace. It creates an insecure and hostile work environment, which discourage women’s participation in work. It is a crime against women, who are considered to be the most vulnerable section of the society. Violence against women is an act of gender-based violence that results in or is likely to result in physical, sexual or psychological harm or suffering to women, whether occurring in public or private life. In India, The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 was enacted to protect women at their workplace. The Centre is committed to providing a supportive environment in which the concerns of sexual harassment can be resolved by following certain rules. He also said that it is important to encourage women to stand up for themselves and not keep it a secret if they face any kind of harassment.
• Outcome: This seminar helped the participants to be more aware of what is happening at their workplace or college. They learned that if any such harassment happened at their place of work, they know not to keep silent and they have laws to protect them. They are more aware about the issues, existing laws and preventive measures.
