Blood Donation : GJTC, 17th Sept 2020

Report of the event:
Number of students who participated in the event: 15
Number of students who were able to donate blood: 6
Number of teachers who participated: 1
Number of teachers who were able to donate blood: 0
Objectives:
The most common reason for donation was a sense of social responsibility as reported by 173 (43.4%) students and among them 75% was from non-medical stream. A large majority (85.5%) of students said that they would encourage others to donate blood.
Since the outbreak of Covid-19, the numbers of Voluntary Blood donation has been drastically decreased meanwhile the numbers of Blood demand keep pace at a constant rate resulting the stocks of blood samples has been dwindle in various blood banks within the Aizawl City. As the authority of Blood Bank Aizawl Civil Hospital has requested programme officers of various institutions to donate blood for the needy persons, the NSS Volunteers of Unit of Govt. J. Thankima College has voluntarily donated 6(Six) units’ blood.
