2nd History Club Annual Meet and elections of leaders

The 2nd Annual Meet of the History Club of Government J. Thankima was held at the Cultural Hall, State Guest House on Friday, July 27, 2018. Lalringliana, Deputy Mayor of Aizawl Municipal Corporation and former Governing Body Member of the College graced the Annual Meet as Chief Guest.

The Chief Guest while inaugurating the Annual Meet highlighted the genesis and development of the College and expressed his gratitude to all the stakeholders and teachers of the College for their efforts to elevate the College in its position and status today. Speaking to the students on the essence and importance of studying History, the Chief Guest said whereas those who are less informed in history loses an interest in the subject but those who are well informed with a proper insight into the discipline continues to developed greater interests in the subject. He also expressed his view that though history may be a study concerning the past, no man can be called a ‘wise man’ without the proper knowledge of history, and that is confirmed by the saying, ‘He who does not know history knows nothing.’

The History Club Annual Meet chaired by Lalrinpuia, VI Semester student and the leader of the Club, was divided into two sessions.

In the first session Dr. C. Lalremruata, Principal, GJTC delivered a welcome address and the resource persons Dr. Rohmingmawii and Dr. Zaichhawna delivered lectures on the advent of Christianity and the status hitherto the present day as well as the significance of studying history as a discipline of learning.

The second session was a business session followed by the election of the History Club leaders for 2018-19.
