Objectives:
- To educate the public about the risks and transmission methods of HIV/AIDS.
- To promote prevention strategies such as safe sex practices, regular testing, and access to healthcare.
- To reduce stigma and discrimination towards individuals living with HIV/AIDS.
- To encourage early detection and treatment of HIV/AIDS.
- To increase awareness of resources and support services available for those affected by HIV/AIDS.
- To empower individuals to make informed decisions about their sexual health and well-being.
- To promote a culture of inclusivity and support for all individuals, regardless of their HIV status.
The context:
Winter Fest-2023 was successfully organized with the Students Union, GJTC on 14th February, 2023. The Fest was sponsored by MSACS for awareness campaign on HIV/AIDS. All the College students, faculty, local people and Aizawl city college students were attended, different stalls like food stalls, gifts items stall, face painting stall, books stall; shooting range, basketball free throw, haunted house, photo booth etc. were open for all. The programme was organized into three sessions: the first session was an inauguration ceremony, the second session was a free HIV/AIDS testing and stall visitation activity, and the third session was a free concert.
Free HIV/AIDS test was held in collaboration with SHALOM, 50 students were tested to identify their status, and all of them received a good result.
Outcome:
- Increased awareness and knowledge about the importance of HIV testing.
- Increased uptake of HIV testing services among the target population.
- Early detection of HIV cases, leading to timely access to treatment and care.
- Reduction in the number of undiagnosed HIV cases in the community.
- Decrease in new HIV infections due to increased awareness and testing.
- Improved health outcomes for individuals living with HIV through early diagnosis and treatment.
- Reduction in stigma and discrimination associated with HIV/AIDS.
- Strengthening of community support and resources for individuals affected by HIV/AIDS.
- Promotion of a culture of regular HIV testing and sexual health awareness.
- Overall improvement in the health and well-being of the community.
