Topic: Protection of Women from Domestic Violence
Objectives: Learn the types of domestic abuse and domestic violence against women and awareness of the law.

114 student’s participants from 3rd Semester Students.
Resource Person:
Ms. Lalchhuanliani, Social Worker
The resource person is an individual who is considered to have abilities or knowledge of a specific type. A resource person is often used as a support to others in an organization by serving as a point of contact for which others can contact to obtain information pertaining to a specific concept or task.
Report of event:
The committee invited resource person Ms. Lalchhuanliani from outside the Institution. Maria Lalremruati, the Seminar Coordinator and Committee Chairperson introduced the resource person and explained seminar topic and welcome the resource person and all the participants.
The resource person has successful experience, who contributed in a learning situation. Her excellent, clear and clinically oriented presentation and very valuable guidance inspired students to make questioning and the seminar good atmosphere of interaction.
The resource person was also accompanied by two members of Women Help Group. She also mentions their activities.
After the seminar some of the participants with invited resource person & guest had group photo.
Body: The resource person stated that the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence, 2005 was an Act to provide for more effective protection of the rights of women guaranteed under the Constitution who are victims of violence of any kind occurring within the family and for matters connected therewith or incidental. The Act classified domestic violence as physical abuse, sexual abuse verbal and emotional abuse and economic abuse. She stated that women are protected from their abusers and can be given protection order, residence order, monetary reliefs and custody order. Protection officers, Service Provider and Counsellors are always there to help these women. The lack of awareness of the law, and therefore the accessibility and awareness of services, types of relief, and legal rights, prevents proper implementation of the law. The resource person concluded that we must create a peaceful home environment in order to live in harmony. It is important that we work together to eliminate domestic violence from our home.
Outcome:
Attending a seminar has numerous benefits, gaining expert knowledge, networking with others and renewing motivation and confidence. Resource person provide a chance to interact with experts from the specific field. Discussing about the relevant topics of the particular subject, students tend to learn about the latest information and new skills related to the concerned subject.
