Objective:
Under severe climatic conditions, selected roadside trees can form wind breaks and shelter belts to protect crops, and help to reduce climatic excesses and soil erosion. They can restore some ecological diversity to areas of agricultural monotony.
Practice:
NSS Unit, GJTC organised a programme of weeding of the unit Road-site plantation at Aizawl-Lunglei World Bank Road near Thiak village on 18th Sept 2021. Seven dried saplings had also been replaced. The programme was attended by one PO and five volunteers and the unit thanks to the persons who volunteered themselves amidst pandemic covid-19 surge in the State.
