Objective:
- The primary objective of a community program should be prevention of the onset of drug abuse in the population of persons not abusing.
- Promote Drug Aware as a source of credible and accurate information on illicit drugs. Increase awareness and knowledge of the potential health, social and legal consequences of illicit drug use.
The practice:
As part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, NAsha Mukt Abhiyaan ( Drug Free India Campaign) Aizawl District. Sponsored by Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. Government of India, Anti-Drug Club, GJTC organized ‘Pleadge taking program on drug abuse’. The students were made aware of the significance of the day. Pledge taking was conducted by C. Vanlalruari, Chairperson, Anti-Drug Club, GJTC and coordinated by the Secretary and other members of Anti-Drug Club, GJTC.
Outcome:
- Increased awareness and education about the dangers of drug abuse among participants.
- Improved decision-making skills and ability to resist peer pressure.
- Reduction in drug use and related behaviors among participants.
- Increased support and encouragement from peers and mentors to stay drug-free.
- Improved overall well-being and mental health of participants.
- Strengthened community ties and a sense of belonging among participants.
- Long-term positive impact on the individual and their community in terms of reduced drug abuse and related issues.
