• Topic: Sensitization program for Slow Learners
• Objectives:
1. Study the performance of slow learners to understand their pattern of learning.ˆ 2. Motivate not to give up on their study and to understand their perspective on their performance. 3. Encourage slow learners to hard work and confident. 4. To have more conversations with them
• Target / No of participants: 23 female students
• Resource Person: Maria Lalremruati, Associate Professor and Secretary, Equal Opportunity Cell GJTC, GJTC. Board Member YWCA , she had presented papers many times in seminar and training. She also presented paper at international level and Women Committee Asian Indg People’s Pact, Thailand etc.
Body: A RUSA sponsored workshop organized by Equal Opportunity Cell touching on the ways to facilitate learning and generation of better and more productive method of Learning. In this programme, the resource expressed concern about slow learners and methods to assist them. A slow learner can be provided with a quiet place to study in order to avoid any disturbance. We can also motivate a slow learner by giving genuine compliments for their work and encouraging them to move forward and give positive feedbacks. Handing out lots of assignments can be stressful for a slow learner, so giving adequate amounts of assignments can help a slow learner to do his work better. Remedial classes can help a slow learner eliminate his weakness and deficiencies. Another method is by using advanced technology, showing them films and videos can help them learn and understand their lessons better.
Outcome:
From this seminar, students who are slow learners can improve their learning habits and be more active towards their academic duties. They agree to be more committed in their studies and do better by applying the different methods they learned from the seminar. It is found that the seminar is a great success.
